Angelina: my new, inner thigh tattoo is for Brad

Angelina Jolie has a new tattoo in an intimate place - her inner thigh - and she says it's ‘for Brad.’ Fans first spotted the new tattoo when she posed in skimpy shorts in the August issue of Vanity Fair. "Ohh, it's for Brad, it is something for Brad," Usmagazine.com quoted her as saying when asked about the tattoo by MTV News.

The actress, who has been with Pitt, 45, for five years, was more open when asked what makes a relationship successful.

She added: "I actually think it's important to be completely honest, however difficult that may be, I''m bad at hiding secrets anyway."

Angelina: I got bloody shooting "Salt"

Angelina Jolie talks about the hard knocks of performing her own stunts in her new spy thriller 'Salt,' in theaters July 23, and she says her kids had a blast visiting the film's action-packed set!
"I got lots of bruises and things," Angelina says about the occupational hazard of doing her own stunts. "I got a little teeny nick right in between my eyes. I went straight into a table while I was shooting somebody, jumping sideways, and felt really, really dumb," she says with a laugh.
"And [I] just laid there with a big ice pack on my head and I was bleeding down my face… But then we used it. I got bloody in the movie anyway."
In the film, Angelina stars as a CIA agent out to clear her name -- and on the run in New York -- after she's accused of being a KGB spy. But despite her action-hero status, she says her children still just think of her as "mom."
"They're still my kids. They still think mom's not that cool. If I do a somersault on a trampoline, they're like, 'Wow, mom…. You're a mom.'"

Angelina promotes "Salt" in Washington, D.C.

Angelina Jolie leaves a press junket on Friday (July 9) in Washington, D.C.

The 35-year-old actress (in an Elizabeth and James Elizabeth Blazer) spoke to the press about her new movie, Salt at D.C.’s Newseum.

Ang covers Parade magazine’s latest issue, and the mag released more excerpts from her interview today on Parade.com! Here’s what she had to share:

On avoiding the dangers of the movie business: “There are many people we’ve seen lost in this business because other people haven’t stopped to make sure they’re OK, you know? People are aware when others are breaking, but in this town they don’t tend to stop and help them. In the end, it costs a life. Part of the sadness in this business is that there are a lot of people in it looking for approval and love. I’m lucky because I was raised with so much love that I can take a lot of knocks and not take anything personally.”

On her opinion of religion: “I respect all religions. What I don’t respect is when people use religion to attack others. I’ve met people across the world, in the middle of nowhere, who are just trying to survive and all they have is religion. In some way it helps them, and I wouldn’t take it away from them. There are also people who use it to hate and kill. I don’t consider them religious people.”

On what her children are being taught to believe: “Brad and I are raising our children to respect everyone. We have a bookshelf in the house that has the Bible, the Torah, the Koran, everything. We will take our children to church, temple, Buddhist ceremonies, Mosques, teaching them about all faiths. Whatever religion they choose, the choice will be theirs.”

FYI: Angie is wearing Ferragamo cream leather shoes with gold metal heels.

Angelina confirms Cleopatra & Maleficent!

Angliena Jolie Would 'Love To' Work With Tim Burton, Darren Aronofsky
The 'Salt' star tells MTV News she would 'love to' play evil Maleficent, be directed by Tim Burton, Darren Aronofsky.

By Todd Gilchrist, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

Angelina Jolie doesn't make the press rounds often, so when the rare opportunity to speak to her does arise, you make the most of it. We grilled her for details about some of her upcoming projects.

One of the rumored parts that seems exceptionally well-suited for the sultry star is the title role in "Maleficent", a take on the "Sleeping Beauty" story told from the point of view of the slumbering princess' nemesis. Asked whether she might be involved in the film — whose director's chair may eventually be filled by "Alice in Wonderland" auteur Tim Burton — Jolie said she would definitely be interested.

"I would love to," Jolie told MTV News. "It's all new and being discussed, but I loved her when I was a little girl. She was my favorite. Tim Burton, the chance to work with him would be extraordinary."

While we were on the topic of casting, Jolie opened up about Cleopatra, whom she's been confirmed to play in a historical biopic. Jolie said a portrayal of the iconic Egyptian queen is long overdue, and she's onboard as long as the circumstances are right.

"I think if we can get the story right, and do the real story," she said of a possible script. "I think there's a lot about her that's never been covered yet. So if we can do something original, we will."

Jolie's name has also been attached to two other films: "Serena," an adaptation of the Ron Rash novel to be directed by "The Wrestler" helmer Darren Aronofsky, and a cinematic portrayal of Kay Scarpetta, the protagonist in Patricia Cornwell's best-selling book series. The actress didn't seem to have much information about either feature, but prospects for "Serena" seemed to be a little more concrete.

"We've talked about it, and I would love to work with Darren one day," Jolie said, adding that the project itself was perhaps less important than her potential collaborator. "So if it's not that, it will be something else. But I think he's one of my favorites."

Scarpetta, on the other hand, seems further down the road. "I think they're writing a script," Jolie said. "It's in development," she laughed, acknowledging she was short on news.

"It's all very in development."

Angelina was never teased as a kid

Was Angelina Jolie a magnet for schoolyard bullies?

No way.

"I was actually quite a cool kid," the actress tells Parade magazine. "I was never teased. I never had any trouble from anybody."

But Jolie, despite her oft-mentioned fondness for tattoos, knives and daredevil stunts, clarifies that she wasn't all that hard as a kid. "I was not tough. I was certainly independent and bold... But I was never satisfied. I had trouble sleeping. I didn't really fit. I always feel that I'm searching for something deeper, something more, more."

As the daughter of Oscar-winning actor Jon Voight, Jolie, now 35, grew up around Hollywood types, but never became self-destructive. "Part of the sadness in this business is that there are a lot of people in it looking for approval and love," she says. "I'm lucky because I was raised with so much love that I can take a lot of knocks and not take anything personally."

She nods to stars who weren't so lucky: "There are many people we've seen lost in this business because other people haven't stopped to make sure they're OK, you know? People are aware when others are breaking, but in this town they don't tend to stop and help them. In the end, it costs a life."

Brad Pitt's longtime love also dishes on how she plans to give their kids a spiritual education. "Brad and I are raising our children to respect everyone," she says of Maddox, 8, Pax, 6, Zahara, 5, Shiloh, 4 and twins Vivienne and Knox, who turn 2 this Monday.

"We have a bookshelf in the house that has the Bible, the Torah, the Koran, everything. We will take our children to church, temple, Buddhist ceremonies, Mosques, teaching them about all faiths. Whatever religion they choose, the choice will be theirs."

Angelina: I don't work out!

ANGELINA Jolie insists she doesn’t work out.

The skinny Salt star — who raises six children with partner Brad Pitt — says she doesn’t have to do any preparation for her action roles because she’s naturally fit.

“I really don’t work out,” says the 35-year-old actress. “I’ve always been kind of slight and I’ve always loved to run and jump around and be physical so action roles are not a huge challenge for me. I enjoy them.”

Jolie recently revealed that she and Pitt never spend more than three days apart.

“There’s never a period when Brad and I are pulled apart,” she said. “We are not separated for more than three days, ever. We stay really connected. We actually don’t go out much.

“It’s funny. We’re very homebound. We’re very much Mommy and Daddy in our pajamas.”

Angelina doesn't want to be Bon'd girl. She wants to be Bond.

HollywoodNews.com: Angelina Jolie doesn’t play the hero’s girl–she plays the hero. Vanity Fair reports that Jolie turned down the role of a Bond girl in one of the Bond movie reboots. She explains how her casting in “Salt” came about with, “It started with a call from Amy [Pascal, co-chairman of Sony Pictures]. She asked if I wanted to play a Bond girl. I said, ‘No, I’m not comfortable with that, but I would like to play Bond.’ We laughed, and then, about a year later, she called back and said, ‘I think I found it.’”

Jolie’s role in “Salt” as the titular character, a secret agent of sorts, is meant to be the female answer to Matt Damon’s Jason Bourne but was originally written for Tom Cruise. “You think it would be easy [to change],” Jolie muses to Vanity Fair. “You just flip the character from Edwin to Edwina. But it was a lot trickier than we thought. For example, the male character had a child. And he knows he’ll be in danger much of the time. And we realized that, as a woman, if you knew your life was at risk, you’d never have a child. The physicality had to change too. I’m smaller than everybody, so how do I go up against a bunch of men without looking silly? How do I fight? We made her meaner than a guy, and dirty. She uses the walls, the fact that she’s lighter and can throw herself around. It’s the Chihuahua up against the big dogs.”

“Salt” opens in theatres this month, and the edition of Vanity Fair featuring Jolie’s interview is on stands now.
