Ana De Costa has landed her big break in the United States with news that Hollywood superstar Angelina Jolie has bought one of her handmade bracelets.

De Costa’s agent in Los Angeles told the London-based designer that Jolie paid £10,000 for a yellow gold bracelet pave set with tsavorites.

The bracelet, which was part of the Mystical Tarot collection that secured a Young Designer of the Year award in 2008, tapped into Jolie’s love of green, and the supernatural, according to De Costa’s agent.

Ana De Costa has been building her brand both sides of the Atlantic since she burst onto the scene two years ago. Her next collection will appear in British Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Grazia, she told Professional Jeweller.

Today, De Costa entirely self-funds the design and creation of her collections but, with recent expansion, she is hoping to secure some sort of investment, particularly for a luxury diamond wedding collection she has planned. “I’d like to find somebody who will provide finance and mentoring,” she disclosed.

Angelina Jolie on ‘Salt’; Feeling Powerful; Almost Breaking Her Arm On Set

Angelina Jolie proved she’s the queen of action movies at the L.A premiere of Salt last night, and while she admitted Brad Pitt loves the film, she told OK! why she won’t let her six kids see the spy thriller.

“I love the action, but it was the first time that I got to do action based on reality and not fantasy, so that was a big relief,” she said of performing her own stunts. “It was the first time I could play with dramatic scenes. A lot of hand to hand combat, but the jumping stuff was hard.”

Were any of the stunts too much? “There was one where I thought I would break my arm in the last kill,” she told OK!. “It got harder and darker.”

So, have any of Angelina’s children seen their mom’s new movie? “No, I can’t show my kids movies where people are trying to kill me,” she told OK!.

However, that doesn’t mean her family weren’t regulars on set. Angelina — who looked stunning in a sequined Emporio Armani strapless mini-dress, nude Ferragamo peep-toe pumps, an Asprey cuff and her own diamond earrings — admitted that Brad came to set “all the time” and “he brought the kids too”.

How does she enjoy juggling her career and motherhood? “When I am home with my kids and I feel like somebody’s mom, but when I am working, I feel powerful.”

She added that diving back into movies was “great”. “I hadn’t worked for over a year. I had two babies. I was home in my nightgown a lot so it was nice to get out and get really aggressive and physical. It was a nice balance.”

Does she share any similarities with Salt? “I can’t tell you because there is so much you can’t say about her, but I think that when she decided to do something that she believes in, she will do whatever it takes.”

But she enjoyed the role. “I had a great time being her,” she said. “She is so many different people.”

The 35-year-old added that she hoped audiences “have a great time and it’s a great ride, but it just will surprise them.”

Angelina Jolie says she would love to work with Brad Pitt on a movie again -- but under very strict conditions.

"Of course, of course," the Salt star told AFP of costarring with Pitt. The couple famously met while making 2005's action flick; at the time, Pitt was still married Jen Aniston.

Now that she and Pitt are partners and parents to six kids, Jolie, 35, explains that the film selection process is dicier.

"I think when you are a real couple, (there are) some things audiences prefer to see real couples do, and some things they really don't like to see real couples do, so you have to be very careful," she explained.

Yet Jolie gushed that she could never get sick of Pitt, 46. "I'd like to do everything with him, I love to be just with him... I don't think it is a risk for us, we have fun doing everything together."

Plus, now that she's a mom, Jolie has curtailed her work schedule -- as has Pitt.

"I only work for a few months and then I take many months off," she explained. "Before 'Salt' we got a year and half off and just traveled and I just was a mom.

Although she's promoting Salt, Jolie explained that she has no film projects for the next five to six months. "Brad's working [on Moneyball] and I'm just being a mom and traveling."

Her favorite spots to travel to: the birthplaces of her adopted kids Maddox, 8 (Cambodia), Zahara, 5 (Ethiopia), Pax, 6 (Vietnam).

"I want to discover everything," she said. "I will always love the countries that my children are from, they will always be special to me."

Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie, who fulfilled her dream of playing a secret agent like James Bond with "Salt", says there is a whole world out there of lovely, sweet women "that you can't imagine being put in a dangerous situation, but they really are".

Jolie has gone de-glam for her role as Evelyn Salt, a CIA agent in the film.

Known for her research, the 35-year-old star left no stone unturned for this one either.

"We talked to a lot of women in the CIA. One after the other, they are just these lovely, sweet women that you can't imagine being put in a dangerous situation, but they really are," the stunning Jolie, who flies planes and rides bikes in real life, said in an e-mail interaction with the media.

Jolie found that the job takes a toll on the personal lives of women secret agents.

"I talked to a woman. She was a former operative. She said it was such a relief when she left the agency as her whole relationship with her husband changed after years of not being able to communicate anything (to her family), what she did or where she was going. She didn't realise how much it had kept them apart and how difficult it had been until she had a new life," added the Academy award winner.

After interacting with real spies, Jolie feels enlightened.

"When we first approached the idea, we thought it was a bit of a fantasy.

But as we got more information, we discovered it was more real than we could have guessed. Truth really is stranger than fiction," said the actress.

She played an athletic-adventurer in the "Lara Croft" series and a secret assassin in "Mr. & Mrs. Smith".

"It ('Salt') is a bit like the 'Bond' and 'Bourne' (series). I was in a meeting with (Sony Pictures co-chairman) Amy Pascal a few years ago when it came up in conversation that she was getting ready to make one of the new James Bond films. I playfully said, 'I want to be Bond'. That was our little joke, and then she found this project," she said.

Jolie, who will be seen jumping from roof tops, locomotives and kicking people, also has a penchant for action.

"I happen to like heights; so we found these moments where I can use that. Because I'm a girl and I'm light on my feet, we naturally went to styles like Muay Thai (a martial art form), which is very long and beautiful.

"Salt fights aggressively in face-to-face combat. In some action movies that I've done, there's been a temptation to make the action nice because I'm female...(In 'Salt') my character doesn't use her sexuality to get anything. It's the roughest I've looked," she said.

Distributed by Columbia Pictures, the action thriller has been directed by Phillip Noyce, who has teamed up with Jolie again after "The Bone Collector".

Interestingly, she was not the first choice to play the lead in "Salt". Tom Cruise had initially signed for the role but dropped out at the last minute. The script was altered for Jolie.

Her future projects include "The Tourist", "Cleopatra" and a voiceover for Master Tigress in "Kung Fu Panda 2: The Kaboom of Doom".

Dame Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton's love affair will be chronicled in a new film and several A-list names are being mentioned to play the iconic couple.
Angelina Jolie and Catherine Zeta-Jones have expressed interest in playing the Dame, while Russell Crowe, Clive Owen and Colin Farrell have eyed playing Burton. Mike Nichols has expressed interest in directing. All the major studios would love to be a part of this film.
The film will be based on the book, Furious Love: Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton and the Marriage of the Century, written by husband and wife team Sam Kashner and Nancy Schoenberger, which chronicles Taylor and Burton's legendary tale of love, divorce and remarriage.
Taylor herself gave access to never-before-seen materials to the duo during their book research, including Burton's love letters to her. They were also given an unpublished first draft of Taylor's 1965 autobiography, plus a portfolio of the screen icon's favorite personal photographs, which are reproduced in the book. The dame also allowed interview questions about her and Burton's long love affair, during which she commented on how he was the great love of her life, the partner in her longest -- and shortest -- marriages.

Exclusive: Angie's interview with "SheKnows"!

When Angelina Jolie enters a room, one has to stop for a second to mentally get your head around the fact that an international icon is sitting two feet away. That being said, there are few celebrities that we have spoken with who had more of an air of ease about them -- one that was equally comforting and compelling.
Salt is the thriller of the summer! As directed by Phillip Noyce (Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger), the spy movie gets a shot in the arm and much of the credit lies on the shoulders of Angelina Jolie.

Noyce first worked with Angelina Jolie on The Bone Collector a decade ago and reported that whereas before, "I was the teacher and she was the student." Now, "Angie had much to teach me."

Angelina Jolie spoke candidly about her life with partner Brad Pitt and their six children. Jolie also was free in her ability to paint a true picture of what life is like at the Jolie-Pitt house.

SheKnows: There’s a lot of running in Salt, does being the mother of toddlers all the training you need to get ready for the role?

Angelina Jolie: Yes [laughs], the toddlers run fast. But, actually Z (Zahara) is the fastest in the house. They’re all over the place! And the twins are always going in different directions at the same time.

SheKnows: You said you may scale back in films in the future. What else do you want to do in the future?

Angelina Jolie: I like to be very, very busy and I’m energized to do things. I don’t sit down well. I’m always reading something or thinking about something or going to make something. It’s not that I’m retiring, it’s just going to be less films that I make. I just imagine in the years to comeI’d love to do other things. I’d love to live in Africa for six months and fly planes. I would like to see what else there is to do. Artistically, I’m sure there are other things to do.

SheKnows: Do you look forward to getting lines and getting older, honestly?

Angelina Jolie: Yeah [laughs]. I do. I like getting older. I think it’s because I lost my mother. There’s something about that, that you really appreciate being able to have history with the people you love. It’s becomes important to you. You want to see your grandkids. You want to all those things. As it comes, there’s deep pleasure in it. I’m sure that’s also because I have a small family. I can relax into it. I do think age is beautiful.

SheKnows: What are your thoughts about being able to seamlessly move from action movies to dramatic, Oscar-earning roles…

Angelina Jolie: I’ve been so lucky to be able to do both action and dramatic films in my career. My audiences have accepted me in both.

SheKnows: Is it true that you had desired to do a James Bond-type role that Sony co-chair Amy Pascal was working on -- and to our delight, it’s Salt?

Angelina Jolie: She had me in for lunch and asked me about doing a Bond movie. I jokingly said that I want to play Bond [laughs]. She called me about two years later and said, "I think I found it." She said, "His name is Edwin." [Laughs] I thought it sounded good so I told her to send it over.

SheKnows: Did you have input into the gender changes since the role was originally intended for Tom Cruise when he was Edwin A Salt?

Angelina Jolie: A lot. The obvious would be that it would be made kind of lighter for a woman in some way, or more loving. We went in a completely opposite direction. The original male script, in the end, he is able to save his wife and kids and able to say I love you. I’ll protect you and my heart is with you. For a woman, that’s not going to be a big revelation. What would be a revelation for a woman? What would be a surprise for a woman? We started there. Also, she would never have a child. I just felt she couldn’t. Also, I think as a woman, you would wonder why I’m not taking care of the child. It would become a film about me and the child. That wasn’t something that suited the film. That was the first call: We don’t say I love you, and there is no child [laughs].

SheKnows: But you get a dog!

Angelina Jolie: [Laughs] Yeah, someone gave me a dog. I have to at least have a dog [laughs].

SheKnows: The stunts, did you train? I know you have a stunt team that you’ve worked with for ten years. Is it effortless? Like the scene in Salt where you’re scaling the building 15 floors up, I know you have no fear of heights.

Angelina Jolie: I was up there! We did go into the training. Although, you can’t train to jump off something or climb out a window. That one was just: Get out the window! We trained all the hand-to-hand combat because we wanted it to be seamless. We didn’t want to piece it together in different edits. We wanted to do it from beginning to end, so we rehearsed it, completely.

SheKnows: Do you have moments when you’re filming an action movie like this where you ask, "What am I doing?"

Angelina Jolie: I do! I remember my first day on the Salt set because I hadn’t worked for like a year-and-a-half. I was home and I had babies. I did my first day back and I thought, "What am I doing? I’m somebody’s mother." [Laughs]

SheKnows: Most of the film you’re running and running and running. Did you play sports as a kid?

Angelina Jolie: I did track.

SheKnows: Well, there you go. Do you ever tell your family what you’re going to be filming the next day on Salt and they say, "Please don’t do that?"

Angelina Jolie: You know, I met Brad (Pitt) doing stunts together, so we are kind of that family. It is expected of mom to go out and be dangerous.

Angelina Jolie's Appearance at Comic Con Confirmed

The 35-year-old beauty will come to represent her upcoming release 'Salt', but her living partner Brad Pitt has not been confirmed to show up at the panel for his animation 'Megamind'.

Angelina Jolie will grace San Diego Comic Con 2010. Following speculation of whether or not she will be part of "Salt" panel, The Hollywood Reporter has obtained confirmation that the actress will indeed join the convention on Thursday, July 22 at 1:00 P.M.

Jolie's longtime partner Brad Pitt is also expected to make an appearance at the Con since his animated movie "Megamind" is also brought to the convention. However, as of press time there has been no confirmation about his involvement. Meanwhile, other voice cast such as Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, and Jonah Hill have been announced to attend the panel on July 22 at 10:00 A.M.

"Salt" follows Angelina Jolie's Evelyn Salt, a CIA officer who is on the run after she is accused of being a Russian spy. A fresh featurette has been released to give more preview to the movie, showing some never-before-scenes while explaining the title character and the storyline. This action thriller will make its way out in U.S. cinemas on July 23.

"Megamind", in the meantime, is a satirical take on superhero movies that centers its story on super villain Megamind who accidentally kills his archrival Metro Man. He creates new superhero rival Titan who wants to be a super villain too, forcing Megamind to stop him and begin a path to redemption in the process. This DreamWorks movie is set to open wide in U.S. theaters on November 5.

Angelina: world leaders are just humans

These days, actress Angelina Jolie is almost as well known across the globe for her humanitarian endeavors as she is for her film roles. And after spending the last decade of her life as a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador, she has certainly spent an exorbitant amount of time surrounded by people in high-powered places.

So with all of her interactions with politicians, what surprises Jolie most about the world’s biggest decision makers?

“Something that's always surprised me when I get inside, and whether it be trying to push for a bill or meeting with people that are high up in power, is how human they are, and how capable they are of making mistakes,” she told us from Washington D.C while promoting her upcoming spy thriller, Salt. “They're just people, they're people that have landed in different positions, worked very hard, and for different reasons they've ended up in these positions. I think for a long time growing up, you see certain buildings and you think, ‘My God, it must be a different breed…’ something that just is beyond anything I can understand. And then you realize no, it's just people. We’re all trying to make this work together and elect the right people. When the right people step forward and when the right people come together, extraordinary things can happen.”


In a case of life imitating art given the recent capture of suspected Russian spies in New York City, Jolie plays CIA Officer Evelyn Salt, who is accused by a defector of being a Russian spy herself, and it was that real plausibility that led her to the role.


“(Through the film) we're getting a sense of what's possible in the news. When we read (the script), we thought, there's always been a history of spies and espionage in between countries and certainly Russia's one of those countries and we have that history,” she said. “It has happened in the past, so whether it exists today – I think it's very possible.”

And while Jolie and partner Brad Pitt have six young ones of their own to tend to, the 35-year-old starlet doesn’t miss an opportunity to spend time with other children in desperate need of some maternal affection.

“I still love spending time with refugees because I just think they are the most extraordinary survivors,” she added. “And so for me, to spend time among people who've really lost everything but hope, and are really tough and resilient in getting on with it, and will return and be the future of their country and rebuild it … I just… it's been a privilege to live with them on occasion for these ten years.”

Brad turned down Salt cameo

Angelina Jolie has revealed that Brad Pitt turned down a cameo role in her upcoming action movie Salt.

Speaking to USA Today, Jolie said that she wanted Pitt to take part in a stunt sequence but he was forced to decline in order to babysit the couple's children.

"He was almost going to be the motorcycle guy that I knocked down, and then he'd call me a bad name," Jolie commented. "But he was with the kids that day, and we couldn't work it out."

Jolie and Pitt previously starred together in Mr. & Mrs. Smith. The actress recently hinted that she would like to work with her partner again on another movie.

Zeljko Mitrovic refused to cooperate with Angelina Jolie

The owner of Pink Films International (PFI) Zeljko Mitrovic refused to cooperate in the new project Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie, announced today the PFI.

"I had great sympathy for her and very respected her work and character. Unfortunately, she is full of prejudices about the Serbs. I know that cooperation with her opens the door to a great movie business, but I do not want to be part of something that for the umpteenth time the Serbs as perpetual bad guys," said Mitrovic.

PFI said Mitrovic on Tuesday met with four other producers from the team of Jolie, to discuss his company's participation in creating a film that should be recorded in Serbia and partly in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As stated, "regardless of the exceptional importance of this work, Mitrovic, after it produced more familiar with the scenario, refused to cooperate."

"As the action film set in the former Yugoslavia and the former war-affected areas, and how the Serbian people are placed in a negative connotation, Mitrovic has refused to in any way involved in shooting this film project," said the statement.

Neither Mitrovic, nor his company does not want to "in any way be a part of something that may or may want, to present for the umpteenth time the Serbian people in a very bad light."

It's added that Mitrovic decided not to be in any way involved "in spite of the size of the project and opportunities to achieve cooperation with the most popular and most attractive actress on the planet, which would certainly PFI company aligned with world production company".

Angelina arrives in Ghana tomorrow
